Dawn Cantwell, our Clinic Manager and Physiotherapist from Ireland, has just completed her post-graduate Masters Degree specialising in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Manipulation at Curtin University in WA. She graduated from Robert Gordon University in Scotland with a MSc Physiotherapy in 2006 and is also a Sports Scientist, graduating in 2004 from Dublin City University. Dawn is also an APPI Clinical Pilates trained instructor and is registered as a Physiotherapist in Australia.
Dawn has extensive experience working in the sports field, recently being appointed assistant physiotherapist at the Melbourne Rising. She has been involved with senior club rugby both in Ireland and Melbourne for over 9 years and has been involved with the Melbourne Rebels Academy, U20s, 18s, 17s and 15s squads over the last 3 years. She also worked with provincial gaelic football in Ireland, and worked at international level with the Philippine Rugby Union in 2015.
A keen interest in sports injuries and injury prevention led Dawn to research ACL injury risk factors and prevention of injury at elite sport team level for her Masters Thesis. Other areas of interest include back and neck pain, biomechanics and functional injury recovery and advanced return to sport rehabilitation.
In her spare time, Dawn enjoys playing Gaelic football, Running and Snowboarding as well as watching her favourite Rugby teams (Ireland, Leinster & the Rebels). She also loves experiencing new cultures, countries, food & wine, and of course socialising (the typical Irish way!).
